This Certificate in Building Fixtures & Equipment course provides students with the skills and knowledge in performing the first-line maintenance work; carrying out planned maintenance; and undertaking servicing work on electrical and mechanical services, AV and PA systems; inspecting emergency and exit lights, and CCTV system; performing painting and masonry works for commercial, industrial and residential buildings in accordance with manufacturers’ and authority requirements to ensure optimum functioning of plant, equipment and systems.
Module 1: Electrical Services
On completion of this unit, students should be able to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and carry out simple alteration and amendment work of a domestic electrical system.

Module 2: Mechanical Services
On completion of this unit, students should be able to interpret blueprint drawings, carry out bench-fitting work, fabricate and repair metal components, perform basic arc welding, carry out preventive maintenance of machinery and engines, small diesel-driven generators and pumps.

Module 3: Building Equipment Maintenance
On completion of this unit, students should be able to service water pumping control system, perform routine maintenance on stand-by generators, set-up audio video system and public address system, inspect emergency and exit lights, and closed circuit television (CCTV) system.

Module 4: Building Fixtures Maintenance
On completion of this unit, students should be able to replace door locks plus closers, and perform painting and masonry works.
